Can I use Jade Eggs if I’m pregnant?

The use of Jade Eggs during pregnancy is a question that can only truly be answered with your intuition. It is a controversial practice, no doubt and many teachers will recommend to not practice. The first three months of pregnancy are delicate and miscarriage rate is high. This is the reason many people will advise against it, and of course this advise comes with the health of your pregnancy at heart.

However, many of these teachers who are giving this advice have never actually been pregnant or given birth. They’re not aware on an experiential level that when you’re pregnant, you’ll have a heightened awareness of what is ok for your body and your baby.

The intelligence of the human body is far beyond what we can ever comprehend or understand. A miscarriage is often caused by the woman’s body rejecting the pregnancy due to an imperfection and not necessarily by something a woman’s done wrong. It is next to impossible to pinpoint it’s exact cause, so erring on the side of caution is always recommended with everything.

Though, there are women that have used their eggs during pregnancy and have had healthy gestations with no complications though each case is unique to each woman.

Keeping all this in mind, if you’ve had a strong Jade Egg practice for at least 6 months prior to conception, are very confident in your practice and you feel your pregnancy is a healthy one, then it may be ok to practice every now and again for very short periods of time more to keep emotional connection to the yoni rather than to gain strength. Avoiding wearing the egg all day or keeping it in while you sleep.

If your intuition tells you this is not ok, then don’t do it. It’s that simple.

If you do choose to practice, be mindful and go gently. Your OB/GYN and birthing coach should to be consulted and their advise considered seriously.

If you are trying to get pregnant, that’s a different story. I recommend our Green Nephrite Jade as it’s considered to be the ultimate fertility stone. It is the ideal stone for pregnancy and excellent to use when trying to conceive. See also Full Moon & Fertility

Jade Eggs after Childbirth

Lady bits are often stretched during childbirth and many women have successfully used the Jade Egg to restore the elasticity. Jade Egg practices will greatly increase healing in addition to being a pleasant and relaxing way to tone the vaginal muscles.

Postpartum Blues can occur after the birth of the baby when hormones dramatically shift. Practicing with the Jade Eggs will naturally stimulate your hormones encouraging their production and assist you in restoring pleasurable sexual activity.

Overall health improves rapidly after the birth of the child with the use of Jade Eggs.

The general rule as recommended by leading OB/GYN’s is to allow four to six weeks after childbirth for muscles and elasticity to heal before resuming a Jade Egg practice.

Can I use Jade Eggs if I have an IUD?

This is another controversial practice and there is a lot of conflicting advice out there on the use of Jade Eggs and IUD’s (intrauterine contraceptive device) and this is mostly due to liabilities and minimal medical testing done by the medical world.

I’ve done a lot of research on this topic as well as personally spoken to various gynaecologists so I can give women the best possible advice regarding the use of Jade Eggs with IUD’s. From everything I’ve learned, I see no conflicting problems. IUD’s are designed to withstand a lot of movement during sexual encounters and Jade Eggs are a very gentle practice so the idea that an IUD might get dislodged by a Jade Egg seems highly unlikely. I also know many women who are comfortably using them together with no known issues with them.

My only recommendation is to practice with caution and use an un-drilled egg or an egg with a sideways drilled hole for use with string. If the egg is drilled vertically, then there is a risk of the string catching the wires of the IUD.

E medicine health states:

“Once the IUD is placed, you can return to normal activities such as sex, exercise and swimming as soon as you are comfortable. Strenuous physical activity does not affect the position of the IUD. You also can use tampons as soon as you wish after an IUD is placed. “

Ultimately, it is every woman’s responsibility to take care of her own body. Intuition goes a really long way with this one, and if you still have concerns, then speak directly to your doctor.

Can I use Jade Eggs during my moon time?

A regular Jade Egg practice can help ease cramping and reduce the flow during menstruation. Rose Quartz is recommended for intense symptoms.

Traditionally this practice is not done during moon flow, but this is a personal choice. According to Ayurveda, any activity that interferes with downward flow of energy during menstruation should be avoided as women are more likely to absorb other energies in their environment. This forms the basis of most of the cultural practices for a woman’s moon time.
